Final Artist Statement 1

I am an artist that works primarily in digital mediums. I am fond of creating narrative works that follow a subject in sometimes abstract manners. I wanted to take this approach in this project in attempting to show Cats move through space, and how we can think about the lengths of sci-fi and other fictional media. I have always loved cats since the time I was a baby and even used to tell people I was born a tiger and turned into a human, and spent lots of time as a kid playing imaginary games with my cat stuffed animals going on all sorts of adventures. This Zine is for both you kids that enjoy the outlandish concepts and fun images and also for a more mature audience that can reflect on their childhood and reminisce on the times of being so creative and having little cares, especially for ones like “it’s not possible for a cat to be in space”. I was originally only doing images of cats in traditional space scenes or outfits but I then started getting more creative adding the han solo cat, and the mario kart cat as well, I think for me these added more personal connection to the piece as I also love star wars and mario kart. This piece is for the viewer but reflects a lot of big aspects of my life, I’ve loved space since I was a kid and was even an astronaut for halloween in kindergarten, I've been obsessed with cats my whole life, and the various different cameos in the piece all reference hobbies or interests of mine, my goal is that the inspirations of my life, in zine for can help the audience reflect of the inspirations in their own lives.
