Artist Bio
My name is Cutter Mitchell. I'm from Piedmont California, a small city inside of Oakland, and have been doing art for as long as I can remember. As a young kid I was almost always equipped with crayons drawing in my free time, or drawing with rocks on my dads car, I was always trying to be creative. I developed a liking for crafting things like woodworking and ceramics, as well as filming video shorts and taking photos with my friends. I definitely get inspired by things and phase in and out of passions but currently I have been doing some gardening, ceramics, and some photography and video taking. I've really enjoyed gardening this summer with my girlfriend. I know some might not consider this art but I would argue that it is. You can let your plants do as they please but also if you choose you can meticulously control the environment, and stress train your plant in order to achieve awesome results. It's an extremely slow and patient process but to me the soil is the medium in which with care you can have a great message from the fruit or flowers your plant produces. Ceramics is one of my longest ongoing passions, I enjoy free form for the most part starting with pinch methods and then moving into sculpting to make cool creations, but also have experience with slabs and wheels. I see photography and videography as a tool to capture my art, whether that be my ceramics, my plants, or my ideas like short stories or comedies I want to tell.
