When originally given the prompt for this project I wanted to make a zine of something like one of my hobbies such as skateboarding or gardening. However I wasn't confident in my abilities in photoshop and illustrator as this was my first time working in them, and also thought it would be hard for me to “tell a story” with either of those topics. In the illustrator lab I spent a lot of time getting into it and making a cat, which gave me confidence to combine that with one of my interests which is sci-fi, and so my Idea for the Zine is Cats in Space. I don’t plan to have a strict story but my zine will follow the adventures of a cat and his friends throughout space. I’m curious about incorporating different sci-fi characters like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. I am going to need to learn how to make human faces cat faces but I think it should be super fun. I want to make the zine half size or quarter size sheet of paper, that way it's small and a quick flip, not serious but fun, a story of space cats. I want to maybe bind the zine with thread but I might end up having to just staple it. I want to play with illustrating different types of cats so I can get more practice with textures and layers. Illustrator has been super fun so far and I like the vibe you can make with it. My photoshop skill I'm not as confident in so maybe I'll have to watch some more tutorials.
